A nice black bamboo set in a similar box as the other natural bamboo set in my collection. This box is shorter and deeper but it has the same fabric. The designs on the tiles are different from the natural set and I am not sure if that's significant or not. Very often a change in box design means a different quality set or a slightly different design. This is an observation from looking at many bone and bamboo sets and comparing 'sister sets'. Sister sets are sets where the 'logos' or designs on the box are similar but the boxes are entirely different. I will soon be presenting some examples of this in my Museum. The Museum gives me the opportunity to show more views and
highlight specific points.
This set has 148 tiles, numerous bone betting sticks, a horn Mingg jar and a pair of dice.
Unfortunately there are no documents to give me any other information about the set. I hope you enjoy what I have for you to look at.
The tiles measure 1 1/8" x 7/8" x 7/16". The box measures 7 3/4" x 5 1/4" x 3 1/2". |
