The game of Mah Cheuk from China Textile Company. A blue cardboard box with 4 trays
for tiles and 4 little trays for betting sticks and accessories. There are 144 solid bamboo tiles and numerous wood dowel betting sticks. The trays are silver colored, which is a bit unusual. I am sure this is a promotional gift from this company to one of
its many silk customers. This is also another example of the charming designs found in these promotional sets. The bird is a bit funky while the flowers and seasons are quite traditional. The tiles measure 1 1/8" x 3/4" x 3/8", the booklet measures 7 1/2" x 5 1/4" and it has 8 pages, the box measures 8 1/4" x 5 1/2" x 3 1/2". Just a word about the pictures -- The picture of the tiles is actually a scan, sometimes the actual color is a bit distorted (this is a new scanner and not as good as my old one, also there are a couple of settings I just haven't mastered yet). The picture showing the open box is a composite photo and the colors there are very true. |
