This is a vintage "Rottgames" set, in near mint condition. Dating this one 1920s.  Rottgames sets have very distinctive designs, this set is their 'soaring sparrow' set.  This case is a bit unusual as the tile trays have lids with snap closures and those sit on top of the racks like single tray sets.  The case is lined in a deep burgundy velvet (sorry the flash over exposed the picture a bit but you can see more detail this way). The case is also a deep one.

The racks are gorgeous! Very rich deep swirled chocolate brown with brass separators and coin holders.  If you look at the picture of the racks inside the case you will just barely see that there are little clips to hold the racks in place.  The coin holders are full of vintage smooth coins.

The tiles are Bakelite, originally this set would have come with 146 tiles, including 2 blanks. I have found 8 extra tiles and stickered them for jokers.  You will notice that the bird is not the only difference between this set and other Rottgames sets,  these tiles are carved and not pressed like the others.  I think that the change in process prompted the change in designs.

Great set, hope you enjoy the pictures.                          CHarli
