| The pictures pretty much speak for themselves. This set
is in mint condition. The tiles are bakelite, the coins and the racks are vintage catalin.
The dice are a rare amber color, the bettor is catalin and there is a
pair of keys. It is extremely rare to find one in this
condition and I am very pleased to have it in my collection. The case is
a rare green faux alligator (oilcloth) one also in mint condition.
Bakelite sets like this are mostly from China, they arrived in cardboard boxes similar to the leather ones that bone and bamboo tiles arrived in. Since the quality of those cases was not very good, they were replaced with better ones like the one above. Chinese manufacturers often put their label in the lid of the box so without the box it is nearly impossible to tell who the manufacturer is, but I will be working on that as time goes on. |
